Encode and Decode HTML Entities

Escape HTML syntax so tags display as text instead of being interpreted as markup. For example,
Hello
becomes <div>Hello</div>. Decode mode reverses named and numeric entities back into their original characters.

Characters and Entities

Angle Brackets

< and > become < and > so tags remain visible.

Ampersands

& becomes & to prevent accidental entity parsing.

Quotes

Double quotes and apostrophes become " and '.

Numeric References

Decode decimal and hexadecimal references such as © and 😀.
